THE 2015 CHATEAU TEYSSIER VINTAGE
The winter months of 2015 were generally cool and dry. March continued in this vein, to be followed by a warm second half of April which resulted in a rapid, regular and early bud burst. Warm and wet conditions at the beginning of May encouraged rapid vegetative growth before cooler conditions slowed things up again. Flowering was also early and regular, although in some cases prolonged due to dry weather. June started hot with several thunderstorms mid-month before warm dry conditions took over again, and continued throughout the rest of the summer, with an occasional, opportune shower. Under these ideal conditions, the grape skins ripened slowly. With no threat from rot, determining picking dates was based on optimal ripeness, and little sorting was necessary. A cold pre-fermatary maceration extracted the aromas considerable colour, and again a long, warm, post-fermentary soak built up the body. 2015 is a rich, ripe vintage with full-bodied, voluptuous, structured tannins.
